The first reactions to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse have begun to appear online with the film receiving overwhelming praise from journalists

The first wave of reactions to Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse have hit the web and the response could not be more positive. Sony’s new animated Spidey story provides audiences with an alternate look at the world-famous Marvel hero, involving multiple versions of the character from other universes. When the Marvel-Sony partnership was first announced, fans were hoping to see a different take on the wall-crawler outside of the well-trodden Peter Parker iteration, and while Marvel opted to reboot the main franchise with another Peter Parker (Tom Holland), Sony has been looking to branch out the character into new realms, choosing the Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) Spider-Man from the comics to lead a new adventure.

Having just recently put out a standalone Venom movie to unbelievable box office success, the studio now hopes to bring younger audience members out for a different kind of Spider-Man movie with all the fun, beauty and charm we’ve come to expect from animated films. Strangely, 2018 has been relatively quiet for the genre and Into the Spider-Verse has an amazing opportunity to pull in lots of attention as a result.

The movie’s social media embargo has now been lifted and many journalists who’ve seen the movie have taken to Twitter to sing the film’s praises harmoniously:

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse seems to be generating positive buzz across the board which will only serve to boost the film’s chances at the box office in the long run. The movie sounds as though it handles all of its Spider-Men, including the Peter Parker version (voiced by Jake Johnson), the Gwen Stacey Spidey (Hailee Steinfeld), a Noir version of the character (Nicolas Cage) and even a pig Spider-Man (John Mulaney), very capably, with a solid story and striking visual design.

Miles Morales is the one and only Spider-Man, or at least that’s what he always thought. When a portal to other universes is opened, multiple Spideys enter into Miles’ world and must unite in order to find their way back to their own respective homes.
