As Avengers: Infinity War (Avengers 3) etches ever closer to theatrical release, Marvel has really begun to ramp up the film’s marketing campaign and is sparing no expense to display its best and brightest superheroes everywhere there’s eyes to see them. With the studio’s recent Black Panther now in its sixth week at the cinema Marvel decided it was finally time to move the spotlight over to the upcoming Infinity War, having only released the movie’s second trailer this past weekend. Of course, a blockbuster the size of Avengers 3 pretty much markets itself and anyone who has been following the franchise for any length of time (a lot of people) is almost guaranteed to head out to their local screen to see it. For the most part, you can thank the characters themselves for that.
Kevin Feige has already teased that the Marvel movie landscape will be changing dramatically over the course of Avengers 3 and Avengers 4 (arriving .. ), and that the MCU will be bringer its new/er heroes, those such as Black Panther, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel, to the forefront while bringing about something of an ending to the running storyline that began with Iron Man back in 2008.
That said, it’s clear that Infinity War will be placing the franchise’s current favourites front and centre, and thanks to Empire‘s latest Avengers covers we can now take a look at them as they will appear in the film in a new level of detail:
Whether or not these groupings, encompassing characters from the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Wakanda, are exactly as the heroes will be laid out in the movie is not completely clear, but what we do know from Infinity War‘s marketing is that Thor will be meeting the Guardians, Bucky and Falcon will join with Black Panther to fight Thanos’ forces in Wakanda & Star-Lord and Spider-Man will definitely be in scenes, fighting the big bad himself, together.
Rumours of late have suggested that Thor and Thanos will be getting the most screentime in Avengers 3 which may indicate that the God of Thunder goes for broke and tries to take on the mad Titan by himself, possibly with the newly forged hammer he looks as though he’s making seen in the first trailer. Perhaps the most exciting thing that fans want to see is where Hulk will be in all this, again from trailers we know he’ll be present in the Wakanda battle, but will he and Thor be teaming up for a little Ragnarok round 2, or will Earth’s big guns be kept with different groups to ensure a heavy hitter is present wherever Thanos shows up? Looks like we’ll have to wait to find out.
