Last year’s Deadpool took moviegoers, and the box office, by storm becoming one of the most successful comic book movies of the year. The film also served to turn around Ryan Reynolds’ career and bring a more faithful version of the Merch with a Mouth to the big screen, following his earlier take on the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds’ hard work and dedication to see the movie get made payed off and along with director Tim Miller the vision for what a Deadpool film could be became reality. Landing an R(15/18)-rating, the movie was able to deliver Wade Wilson’s trademark sadistic humour, over-the-top action and fourth-wall-breaking to show both fans and general audience members that the Marvel Comics antihero would be the next big thing in superhero movies.
A sequel was announced shortly after the first film’s release, thanks to its rampant success, with Miller and Reynolds joining forces again to hit us with the old double whammy. Unfortunately, as development on Deadpool 2 began to get underway it was reported that the pair had some creative differences and Miller decided to part ways with the project, leaving a big gap in need of filling. It didn’t take long for 20th Century Fox to find Miller’s replacement, however, bringing in Atomic Blonde‘s David Leitch to work with Reynolds and the team to continue Wilson’s big-screen story. Deadpool 2 sees the introduction of the mutant from the future Cable, being played by Josh Brolin, who possesses vast powers and will no doubt give Wilson a run for his money, even if he is pretty much unkillable.
Fox released a short in promotion of Deadpool 2 online back in April, along with some images from behind the scenes, but up until this point we haven’t seen too much of the film yet. Well, now the studio has opted to put out the first teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel and it will no doubt have many in fits of laughter:
Official Synopsis and Trailer:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
While the trailer’s main gag is seeing Reynolds in costume as Deadpool, in costume as beloved TV painter Bob Ross, we do get a split second look at some new footage from the movie itself. Placed in the middle of some technical difficulties on the set of “Wet on Wet”, you might be able to make out a few of the shots shown such as Teenage Negasonic Warhead’s new look with an updated X-Men suit, Deadpool inside a casket at a funeral, T.J. Miller’s Weasel looking like he’s involved in an action scene with the Merch and explosions, lots of em.
Deadpool 2 shoots into cinemas June 1st, 2018
