The marketing campaign for Justice League is stepping into full gear, with Warner Bros.’ biggest DC movie yet now less than four months away from release. During a well attended SDCC panel, the film’s cast including Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot spoke about their characters and answered many questions from their biggest fans, while also presenting the audience with a brand new sneak peek at the upcoming title. Playing things very wisely, having been snubbed by trailer leaks before, Warners decided to release the new trailer online shortly after its Comic-Con debut and needless to say it sent the internet abuzz.

Earlier last week, we got a first close-up look at Justice League’s villain Steppenwolf but until now we had not yet seen the menacing Apokoliptian in motion. The new promo provides viewers with a few snippets of Steppenwolf in action, causing much destruction and putting up a strong fight against Earth’s heroes, even the likes of God-killer Wonder Woman.
Speaking of the Amazonian Princess, the studio has been featuring her heavily throughout their most recent wave of marketing for Justice League, following her hugely successful first solo outing, and here we have her kick-starting the new trailer with a heroic display:
Official Synopsis and Trailer:
Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
The size and scale of the threat, and the film itself, is established early on in the trailer with not just Batman and Wonder Woman preparing themselves for the “something” that’s “coming”, but also we see the Amazons on Themyscira ready for battle and at the heart of the danger, with the movie’s villain Steppenwolf arriving on the island through a portal (most likely generated through one of the three motherboxes introduced in Batman v Superman) and the Amazon warriors looking quite unsettled, something that we wouldn’t normally see from them. We’re also then shown the other key players in the film Cyborg, Aquaman and Flash who we now understand would really be needed in order to stop Steppenwolf.
Steppenwolf also speaks in the trailer, most notably providing the DCEU‘s first reference to the, “Lanterns”; that is the Green Lantern Corps., who we haven’t seen or heard from yet, although a movie is in the works.
With its sharp action sequences, quick quips and superhero team-up excitement, Justice League is shaping up to be a top entry in Warner Bros.’ lineup of DC films so far.
