King Kong brings the fight to a menacing Skull Crawler in this new clip from Kong: Skull Island.

With Kong: Skull Island a mere two weeks from release, Warner Bros. is currently in the process of rolling out new teases and glimpses at its monstrous action thriller full steam. Since Kong made his first feature film debut in 1933, with the purpose of showing audiences the then cutting edge techniques used to bring a monster to life on-screen, the character has appeared in seven feature films. This time around, however, the studio has much bigger plans (fitting of a big gorilla) that will see a shared monsters universe, with their two main centrepieces Kong and Godzilla, who recently received his own reboot, set to battle one another.

With regards to the upcoming 2017 film, the promotional material thus far has only shown us Kong taking down human threats to himself and his island kingdom, knocking helicopters out of the sky for example, but now the studio’s marketing department has opted to show the ape picking on someone his own size.

As the clip begins we join Tom Hiddleston’s Captain James Conrad, alongside John C. Reilly’s Marlow and Jason Mitchell’s Glenn Mill, among a few others, all on the run from a very menacing Skull Crawler. Then, in a move akin to something of the MCU‘s Hulk, we see Kong jumping in from off-camera (outta nowhere!) to take on the Crawler, as an epic battle begins between the two.

Official Description and Trailer:

When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man. Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly star in a thrilling and original new adventure that reveals the untold story of how Kong became King.

Kong: Skull Island features the largest King Kong we’ve ever seen on film, at roughly 328 ft. (100 metres) tall, this also means that the other giant creatures inhabiting Skull Island are bigger than ever before too, as we can clearly see judging by the relative size of the Skull Crawler in this new clip. No doubt this won’t be the only ginormous showdown we’ll see in the movie upon its release.
