Having firmly established that the future of their DCEU holds a change for the better, Warner Bros. and DC continue to push the idea of teamwork and comraderie in their upcoming 2017 film Justice League. With Ezra Miller’s (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) The Flash set to make his first full feature film appearance, many fans are excited to see how the character will be developed and in what way he’ll serve the wider story.
Speaking with EW, director Zack Snyder addressed the dynamic between the main characters in the movie saying, “I’m super happy with the chemistry of my league of justice doers”. Snyder tactfully chooses to talk about inter-character “chemistry”, showing the change in thinking from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which often felt as though style was being placed over substance, and character relationships were not as fully fleshed out as they could have been.
Posing next to heavy hitters Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash’s relatively vibrant suit is out on full display in the newly released image included in EW‘s report:
Miller himself spoke on the familial relationship of the league, and, in doing so, almost seemed to be speaking from the perspective of his character, referring to Batman as “Dad”. It’s as though he’s letting us know how The Flash/Barry Allen sees them:
“Flash is Ringo Starr. He annoys everybody, but he doesn’t have any specific beef with anyone. Uncle Fish Curry [Aquaman] is very grumpy. Dad [Batman] gets grumpy too. (He’s had a long life of fighting crime.). Wonder Woman is very considerate, so even though she’s annoyed with the Flash, she’s still very compassionate.”
Here we also learn that Wonder Woman is “Annoyed” at Barry, which, although we have no idea why at the moment, is sure to be an important point of contention in the early stages of the film as the heroes and their relationships are developed.
Justice League leaps onto cinema screens November 17th, 2017.
