The latest TV spot for the sequel to 2012’s Jack Reacher indicates Tom Cruise will go ‘hunting’ for the bad guys this time around.

Tom Cruise returns as author Lee Child’s fictional former military cop Jack Reacher in the sequel to the 2012 feature film adaptation Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. The first film, simply titled Jack Reacher, presented the character in a slightly different way to Child’s book series, Reacher’s tall height for example, but was an overall enjoyable action movie with a decent story to follow along with. The role presented Tom Cruise with a smaller side project to his big budget Mission Impossible series, and, with the movie’s overall success, another gold medal on top of his already sterling reputation as an action star.

The upcoming film’s first trailer unveiled the next chapter very well clearly indicating that Jack will be charged with a 20-year-old crime, and must also locate the head of his former unit. Paramount has been steadily releasing clips and TV spots in the build up to Never Go Back‘s release with the latest 30-second video highlighting the key story points of the movie, and showing off snippets of signature Cruise action along the way.

Official Description and Trailer

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back follows the title character as he returns to Virginia to meet the head of his former unit. But she’s missing, he’s being charged with a crime committed nearly 20 years ago, and he may even have a daughter. Making things right will lead him on a cross-country chase to uncover the truth – and maybe even a family.

There’s no doubt that the studio will be looking for another solid outing here, and if the sequel performs well you can expect to see more of Reacher over the coming years, perhaps even taking Bourne‘s spot
