Take a look at the latest promotional material for upcoming films shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con including Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok and more.
Suicide Squad – August 5th
This year’s DC movies panel was full of surprises, with showings from Wonder Woman, Justice League and of course the soon-to-be-released Suicide Squad. Director David Ayer and his band of ‘Heathens’ answered a handful of questions while on stage, but the most exciting part of the panel was, as you would expect, the latest trailer for the antihero team-up movie.
The new trailer shows a plethora of new footage, and gets political, with Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller telling US Government officials “The next war will be fought with these metahumans”. No doubt the events of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman will be referenced in the movie and we’ve heard that Suicide Squad’s roster of rogues will have had run ins with a certain caped crusader, who also appears in the trailer, in the past.
The DC filmmakers are clearly emphasising the fun in their upcoming movies, given the mixed reception to the tone of BvS, and the Squad looks to bring all out action thrills upon its release on August 5th.
Wonder Woman – June 2nd, 2017
Gal Gadot returns to our screens as legendary super heroine Wonder Woman, who receives her own solo outing in 2017. Having been introduced, for the first time ever on film, in Batman v superman: Dawn of Justice, the character has already become a fan favourite, and many are very excited to see what director Patty Jenkins and her team are bringing to the DCEU table.
Having released a plot synopsis prior to the convention, DC went big and showed the first full length trailer for the film, scheduled for release in June 2017, and no question fans were thrilled by what they saw, particularly the sequences of Princess Diana shown in battle with her iconic Sword, shield and glowing Lasso of Truth.
Justice League – November 17th, 2017
It was always likely that DC and director Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Man of Steel) would at least talk about the upcoming Justice League movie at the panel in San Diego, and perhaps show some images and concept art too, but it seems the studio wanted to clearly display the new direction they are going in after the negative comments surrounding the tone of this year’s Batman v Superman. And that’s exactly what they did.
Opting to show ‘Special Comic Con Footage’, which for all intensive purposes may as well be dubbed a trailer, Snyder and Co. wowed fans with a first look at Ezra Miller’s The Flash, and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, along with an all-new glimpse at Jason Momoa’s, very aggressive, Aquaman. Getting to see Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) interacting with each of these newly introduced characters was something Comic Con’s Hall H audience were very pleased to see.
