Legendary Director-producer Ridley Scott’s recent return to form with last year’s The Martian has given 20th Century Fox a big opportunity in its sci-fi properties once again. With Scott now currently working on Alien: Covenant, his son Luke Scott has been busy helming a sci-fi film of his own. He makes his debut with Morgan, a thriller, written by Seth W. Owen, which brings the long-disputed question of the potential danger surrounding artificial intelligence to life.
The film’s first trailer does well to draw you in, with eerie sound design and nervous character voices, including Toby Jones talking about how “very special” Morgan is, but all the way through is a sense of foreboding and danger, that maybe the group of scientists responsible for the AI are unsure as to what it will do next.
Official Description and Trailer:
A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
