‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer 2

Paramount has unveiled the second trailer for Star Trek Beyond starring Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Simon Pegg and others.

When the follow up to the highly successful Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness, was released in 2013, fans were divided in their opinions of the film, and its faithfulness to the original TV series. However, there’s no doubt that Into Darkness was a visually stunning, action packed sequel, keeping moviegoers interested to see where the sci-fi franchise will go next.

With Star Trek Beyond slated for a big summer release date, it’s clear Paramount understand the terrain in the genre right now, with the return of Star Wars, and the five movies Lucasfilm will be releasing over the next handful of years, naturally having an impact on the buzz surrounding Star Trek. Of course, it may be that the excitement for sci-fi movies in general could reach even greater levels, which would see Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and his Starfleet team soar to new heights of popularity with the general public. Nonetheless, we think it’s a smart move on the studio’s part to steer clear of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s December release date.

The new adventure in Beyond appears to be the crew’s biggest, and most dangerous, yet. With the U.S.S. Enterprise out of action following a devastating attack, Kirk and his crew are stranded on a remote planet with no means of communication. Each of the crewmates must work to survive the elements and find a way to get back to Earth.

Star Trek Beyond stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Simon Pegg (Scotty), Idris Elba (Krall), Karl Urban (Bones), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Sofia Boutella (Jaylah) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov).

The U.S.S. Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
