X-Men: First Class and Thor writer Zack Stentz confirms he is currently working on a script for a Warner Bros. Booster Gold movie.
With Warner Bros. having kicked off its endeavor into cinematic universe (DC Extended Universe) territory with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it seems the studio is eager to push more and more time, and money, into rapidly expanding its DC film world. Although BvS was not necessarily met with quite the overwhelmingly positive response that the studio would have hoped for, it safe to say that the film has been considered a financial success, taking in roughly $868 million worldwide off of an estimated $250 million investment, making WB $500 million richer.
Many upcoming DCEU projects have been announced, such as solo Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg movies, but many have suspected that WB are playing certain things close to the chest, which seems very likely. We know that both Batman and Superman are yet to receive solo film dates, which is something that will certainly play to the studio’s advantage in terms of counteracting fan excitement should Marvel announce an Iron Man 4 for example.
One such project that DC has kept a little more quiet about is the much-rumoured Booster Gold movie, which has only just recently surfaced as an officially in development title. X-Men: First Class and Thor screenplay writer Zack Stentz teased the film just a few days ago, with reports claiming it to be a live-action Booster Gold adaptation. Stentz recently appeared on Screen Junkies‘ Movie Fights along with Kevin Smith, who directed an episode of The Flash TV series that Stentz had written, where he confirmed the news of his involvement with Booster Gold:
“I am jumping into the DC Universe with both feet, and I am at least, until they fire me, I’m gonna be writing Booster Gold — for the big screen, for all of my Flash friends.”
So, with the confirmation of the film’s development now comes the months and months of speculation as to what could happen in the movie, which characters will be involved, how much it will stick to the source material etc. but fans can surely be happy that they’re getting a big screen debut for the man from the 25th Century.
What do you hope to see from Booster Gold?
Booster Gold has yet to receive an official release date.
