Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Haley Bennett and more star in the upcoming remake of the 1960 classic The Magnificent Seven.
It’s been 56 years since The Magnificent Seven, directed by John Sturges and starring Steve McQueen, was released, and with Hollywood studios continuing to green light remake after remake it was only a matter of time before the classic old-west style retelling of Seven Samurai (1954) received its own.
Following the basic outline of the original, the new film sees the gradual assembly of seven gun men who come together to stop a band of savage thieves from continuing their attack on a vulnerable village.
The new trailer gives us a good feel for the story while also highlighting the film’s action, of which there looks to be a lot. Western gunfights never looked so good:
With an outstanding cast including Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Haley Bennett, Vincent D’Onofrio, Matt Bomer, Ethan Hawke, Cam Gigandet and Peter Sarsgaard, The Magnificent Seven certainly has the potential to bring a beloved classic back to life, perhaps for the benefit of younger audience members, while also giving the tale a more modern makeover.
