Watch the latest trailer for Warner Bros.’ upcoming film Suicide Squad, starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and more.
With reshoots having just been announced, which director David Ayer confirms are being used to add even more action, the buzz for Warner Bros. and DC‘s summer release Suicide Squad has soared in recent months, with the latest trailer hitting over 6 million views in just 48 hours. Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) really shine in this new footage, which gives us a lot of hope, plus we get to see a little more of Ben Affleck‘s Batman here, which is great.
The trailer does well in balancing its dark undertones with surface humour that, in the words of Deadshot, really “Gets you there”. There’s a real sense of fun about the movie, and all this goodness comes through without the trailer giving you the entire film in two minutes – from everything we’ve seen so far we still don’t really know what the team’s mission is, and that’s perfect. A big complaint from many who went out to see WB’s latest offering, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was that the trailers gave away too much, as is so often the case these days. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that the next trailer for Suicide Squad will follow the lead of its predecessor.
Official Trailer and Synopsis:
From director David Ayer (“Fury,” “End of Watch”) comes “Suicide Squad,” starring Oscar nominee Will Smith (“Ali,” “The Pursuit of Happyness”), Oscar winner Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Focus”), Joel Kinnaman (“Run All Night,” “The Killing”) and Oscar nominee Viola Davis (“The Help,” “Doubt”).
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
Written and directed by Ayer based on the characters from DC Comics, the film also stars Jai Courtney (“Insurgent”), Jay Hernandez (“Takers”), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (“Thor: The Dark World”), Ike Barinholtz (“Neighbors”), Scott Eastwood (“Fury”), Cara Delevingne (“Paper Towns”), Adam Beach (“Cowboys & Aliens”), and Karen Fukuhara in her feature film debut. It is produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, with Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.
