Oscar nominee Jonah Hill joins Miles Teller for War Dogs, a film based on the Guy Lawson book Arms and the Dudes.
War Dogs sees Jonah Hill portray real-life weapons supplier Efraim Diveroli, a character that reminds us a lot of his role as Donny in Martin Scorsese‘s 2012 film The Wolf of Wall Street. Given Hill’s aforementioned performance, this lifts our expectations for War Dogs, and knowing that the 32-year-old actor excels tremendously with roles that blend drama and comedy, this may be another fantastic feature film outing for the Moneyball star.
For Miles Teller on the other hand, the recent failures of both last year’s disastrous Fantastic Four reboot, and this month’s box office bomb Allegiant mean that the 29-year-old will be hoping and praying that this next film can deliver. Although, it must be said that Teller himself has not been part of the problem with his movies that tanked, it will still be important to him that he’s now seen in some top quality films that draw positive reaction and elevate him as an actor. Having shown his true talent in the Academy Award nominated film Whiplash, it’s clear that all Teller needs is a solid all-round flick to get himself back where he wants to be.
Both Teller and Hill are very gifted when it comes to playing the more grounded dramedy roles, but most importantly both actors remain memorable because they still manage to bring a larger-than-life element to them, something that’s evident in this new trailer.
Official Synopsis and Trailer:
Based on a true story, “War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.
