A new TV spot has been released for the upcoming fantasy epic Warcraft, revealing new footage from the film.

A lot is riding on this year’s video game-film adaptations, with two big franchises making their way to the silver screen for the first time; Assassin’s Creed and Warcraft. While Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are busy fending off Templars, Travis Fimmel (Vikings TV Series) and Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) will be trying to forge an alliance between orcs and humans.

The World of Warcraft game series has a huge global following, presenting Universal, Legendary and Blizzard with a fantastic financial opportunity, as they join forces, and also giving long-time fans a cinematic spectacle. There’s no doubt that if Warcraft is successful, it may go on to become the number one fantasy film franchise, following the reign of Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit).

The new TV spot highlights the film’s conflict between the invading orc forces and the Kingdom of men, but also reminds us that the central characters, human Anduin Lothar (Fimmel) and orc Durotan (Kebbell), are striving to prevent the coming war, as the orcs flee their dying homeworld of Draenor seeking to find a new one in the already-inhabited Azeroth. Judging by the film’s promotional material so far, the war maybe unavoidable.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Warcraft is scheduled for release June 10th.
