With Walt Disney Studios pushing the release of the new Jungle Book film, which looks incredible, Warner Bros. Pictures‘ own jungle-based movie The Legend of Tarzan has been a little sidelined, and yet, judging by the trailers, the film could be just as breathtaking as its mouse-house equivalent.
While Baloo and Mowgli sing about bears and necessities, Jane (Margot Robbie) and Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) are living a gentrified life in London, away from the vine-swinger-turned-Lord’s home in the African Jungles. Known in the City as John Clayton, or Lord Greystoke, Tarzan is asked to embark on a journey back to his childhood homeland in order to oversee a trading opportunity with the local people there on behalf of parliament. However, as you’d expect, the British are not quite as open and honest about their plans as they seem.
Official Synopsis and Trailer:
It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
