The new featurette showcases Ben Affleck‘s Bruce Wayne (Batman), Henry Cavill‘s Clark Kent (Superman) and Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor, revealing more about their characters, and where they are when the film picks up.
With both Batman and Lex Luthor being as yet unknown to us, at least in this new DC cinematic World, created in Man of Steel, Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have done a fantastic job of giving fans the necessary background and personal information of these incarnations of the characters going into Batman v Superman.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day saviour, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
With BvS now under one week from opening, the studio has ramped up its marketing for the movie big time, with new TV Spots, promos and featurettes dropping almost everyday, perhaps a little something the executives have taken note of from the recent success of 20th Century Fox‘s Deadpool campaign, which saw a relatively unknown character bring in over $600 million Worldwide. The budget for Man of Steel was more than double Deadpool’s budget, in fact it was more than Avengers: Assemble, and so it’s safe to say that putting both Batman and Superman (plus Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor et.) in the same film would require very high funds indeed, in fact some have speculated that this could be the most expensive film ever made with estimates around the $300-400 million mark. Of course it’s a given that the movie will make its money back, and probably with plenty to spare.
We’ve placed our estimate at $1.3 billion, but we’ll have to wait and see!
