A new poster for 20th Century Fox‘s next film in their X-Men franchise X-Men: Apocalypse has been released online, featuring the Godly mutant Apocalypse with his horsemen; Magneto, Psylocke, Angel and Storm.
The events of Bryan Singer‘s legendary X-Men run come to a head in X-Men: Apocalypse, featuring the young new cast from First Class and, most recently, Days of Future Past, which includes Jennifer Lawrence , James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult. The new installment sees the continuation of the franchise’s newly established timeline, and the character additions of Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Many of these characters have been used in previous movies, but in Apocalypse we will get to see their younger selves for the first time on the big screen, and, as previously stated, their stories will be a little different from the ones we knew from before, as we are now routed in an alternate timeline.
The mutant team’s new foe Apocalypse, played by Star Wars‘ own Poe Dameron, Oscar Isaac, is an exceedingly powerful chap, and, being the first ever mutant, considers himself as a Godlike father figure for other inheritors of the X-Gene to follow.
Official Synopsis and Poster:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
A powerful group indeed, and, with the most powerful mutant leading them, it seems difficult to comprehend how our favourite leather-clad X-Men will be able to take on such a deadly threat. We can’t wait to see how it all goes down!
