‘Warcraft’ TV Spot 1: ‘War Is Coming’

A new TV Spot for the highly anticipated video game adaptation Warcraft sees Orcs and Humans fight for dominion over the kingdom of Azeroth.

The question on the minds of many film fans at the moment is will 2016 be the breakthrough year for video game to film adaptations? – In years gone by we’ve seen many attempts to bring versions of various game characters, worlds and lores to the big screen but with very little success. Titles such as Hitman, Max Payne.. have simply not been able to hit the mark and provide studio executives with a motive, mostly from a monetary perspective, to green light such projects given their track record. However, this year sees the release of two movies, Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed, that have the power to change all that, both projects having obtained a solid amount of proven talent which bodes well for their chances.

Assassin’s Creed stars two time Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), and will bring the much loved Assassin’s Creed series into the cinematic world, with filmmakers deciding to create a new story revolving around the central ideas of the game, rather than directly adapting the game’s narrative to film. Earlier on in the year, however, comes the epic fantasy/adventure adaptation Warcraft, based on the popular game series World of Warcraft. The film sees critically acclaimed director Duncan Jones (Source Code, Moon) team up with a gifted ensemble cast, including TV star Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim) and Ben Foster (The Finest Hours), in what is sure to be a thrilling cinematic experience.

The new TV spot highlights the conflict between orcs and men but also reaffirms that our main characters, comprised of individuals from both factions, wish to make peace between the warring sides:

There’s no doubt that if Warcraft is up to scratch it could become the next Lord of the Rings with huge franchise potential, probably something that Legendary Pictures would have considered during the film’s conception.

So, will you be lining up to see Warcraft upon its release?

Be sure to tell us your thoughts!

See Warcraft in UK cinemas June 3rd.
