The long awaited adaptation of Justice League Dark may be on its way with a production start date as early as next year.
According to a report from The Tracking Board, Warner Bros. is moving ahead with its long-teased project, Justice League Dark, under the title Dark Universe. The idea for the adaptation has been discussed for years and originally had Guillermo del Toro attached to direct. Now, according to the report, del Toro will remain on board as a producer alongside Steve Jobs Producer Scott Rudin.
Justice League Dark was a series launched as part of DC Comics‘ New-52 continuity. The team included the likes of John Constantine, Zatanna and Deadman as well as many of Earth’s more mysterious and magical heroes. They formed after Enchantress went mad and took down the Justice League, leaving the planet vulnerable to attack.
The report claims that the film is to be a priority for the studio which seems a little odd given the already packed schedule it has set for the next five years, including two Justice League movies.
