The Lowdown: ‘Bad Boys 3 & 4’ Get Release Dates Along With ‘Jumanji’, ‘Uncharted’ And More


Sony reveals its upcoming lineup including release dates for Bad Boys 3 & 4, Ghostbusters, JumanjiUncharted and many more.

Sony Pictures has revealed that Bad Boys 3 will be arriving on February 17th, 2017, and hopes that original duo Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will team up once again in their buddy cop roles’ as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. At this point Joe Carnahan is the most likely candidate to direct the film. Sony has also (surprisingly) scheduled a July 3rd, 2019 release date for Bad Boys 4 too.

In addition to this, the studio has provided release dates for a number of other projects from its upcoming slate:

Money Monster – April 8th, 2016

The Shallows – June 24th, 2016

Ghostbusters – July 15th, 2016

Patient Zero – September 2nd, 2016

The Magnificent Seven – September 23rd, 2016

Underworld 5 – October 21st, 2016

Passengers: Sci-fi romance, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, Morten Tyldum (Imitation Game) is on board to direct. – December 21st, 2016

Jumanji – December 25th, 2016

The Dark Tower: Based on Stephen King‘s Sci-fi horror book series of the same name, Nikolaj Arcel is set to direct. – January 13th, 2017

Resident Evil 6 – January 27th, 2017

Bad Boys 3 – February 17th, 2017

Baby Driver – March 17th, 2017

Barbie – June 2nd, 2017

Uncharted – June 30th, 2017

The Lamb – December 8th, 2017

Bad Boys 4 – July 3rd, 2019


This marks a new beginning for Sony after a devastating year in 2014, with many major setbacks following hacks to the studio’s files. This is a confident, good-looking lineup demonstrating the new senior team’s ambition and desire to get things back on track.
