This week has seen an influx of new information about Warner Bros. upcoming DC film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie will see the studio attempt to launch their very own Cinematic Universe.
Entertainment Weekly has released a handful of never-before-seen images from the film, giving us new insights into characters Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) and Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), plus revealing a certain secret weapon the Dark Knight will deploy in his efforts to defeat the Man of Steel..
Take a look at the images below:
Two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck spoke with EW about the chemistry between Bruce and Diana, seen in one of the images above, saying,
“I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crowne Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person.”
It’s clear that there will be a level of attraction but it’s quite unlikely we’ll see the full extent of it until further down the line. But in many ways that’s what the movie will be about, although the main focus is Batman and Superman (check the title) the movie also acts as a giant easter egg in a way – even from the first teaser trailer we can see Zack Snyder laying the groundwork for future films and an ongoing story arch that will presumably culminate in the Justice League movies…the movie is sub-titled Dawn of Justice.
Arguably the most important thing to come out of the article was the mention of the K-word..yes Kryptonite! EW confirms that Batman’s mech-suit will not only be “strength-augmenting” but will also contain the radioactive rocks from Superman‘s home world,
“If you’re going toe-to-toe with the son of Jor-El, you better come correct. For his climactic rooftop brawl with Superman, Batman outfits himself with a reinforced mech-suit equipped with strength-augmenting armor and, yes, kryptonite. The design resembles the one used for the confrontation between these two in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.”
