‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Trailer 2

It’s no surprise that Dylan O’Brien and co. are returning for another installment of The Maze Runner given the successes of the first and of the general young adult book to film genre trend right now. Many have slammed these types of films and plenty of others would not be too bothered about sequel’s such as this, but studios have seen real benefits (profit) to putting them out (The Hunger Games, Twilight) and so, much like the demand for comic book movies, it doesn’t look as though they’re going to go away anytime soon. The first film, The Maze Runner, managed to bring in over $340 million Worldwide, a solid return on its modest $34 million budget.

Official Synopsis for Scorch Trials:

“In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow gladiators face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organisation known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.”

As expected, the trailer confirms the story will pick up right where the previous one ended, with each film seemingly being used as acts rather than completing any aspect of the story. The Maze Runner involves themes of corruption and conspiracy, and the characters struggle to know what is real and what is part of their “test”.

You can check out Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials on September 18th.
