With Johnny Depp having reportedly suffered a hand injury on set in Australia back in March, filming for his new outing, Dead Men Tell no Tales, was expected to slow down. But one month on and all seems to be well, as we see his crowd-pleasing pirate character Jack Sparrow (perhaps I should say Captain) in full costume back on set.
The photo was tweeted out by producer Jerry Brukheimer, who will be hoping that the next film will be met with praise from audiences who have generally been disappointed with efforts since the first in the franchise The Curse of the Black Pearl. Having said that, each of the four existing films have been huge box office successes, with the most recent adventures (At World’s End, On Stranger Tides) taking in over a billion dollars Worldwide respectively. There’s no doubt that we’ve been loving Sparrow and his antics, but are we interested to see more from this franchise?
This new film will see the return of stars Orlando Bloom (Will Turner) and Geoffrey Rush (Hector Barbossa), as well as Javier Bardem, who will make his POTC debut as Captain Salazar.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to hit theaters July 7th 2017.
